Community
TGF encourages all of its people to be involved in the community, using their expertise and enthusiasm to make a difference locally, nationally and worldwide. Below are some of the initiatives we are closely involved with.
Worldwide Orphans Foundation (WWO) Canada provides direct services in many areas to care for the health of children living in orphanages around the world. TGF was involved with launching the Canadian chapter of WWO, and is represented on the Foundation’s Board of Directors.
Gold Medal Plates raises substantial funds for Canada's high performance athletes, while celebrating Canadian athletic, culinary and artistic excellence. TGF is involved in organizing the annual fundraising event, and is represented on the Board of the event in Toronto.
Camp Oochigeas offers year-round programs for children affected by childhood cancer at their site in Muskoka, at the Hospital for Sick Children and in the community. TGF participates in the annual Sporting Life 10k race to benefit Camp Oochigeas.
Doctors Without Borders/Médecins Sans Frontières (MSF) Canada works to respond rapidly and effectively to public health emergencies around the world, with complete independence from political, economic and religious influences. MSF Canada (Emergency Relief for Haiti) is TGF’s designated charity for all internal fundraising in 2010.
Daily Bread Food Bank is a non-profit, charitable organization that is fighting to end hunger in communities across the Greater Toronto Area. TGF raises funds in connection with the Daily Bread Food Bank Law Firm Holiday Challenge. This year, a spirited internal competition resulted in TGF placing third among participating law firms in the per capita donations category.
Frontier College Canada is a national literacy organization, working with volunteers and community partners to give people the skills and confidence they need to reach their potential and contribute to society. TGF is the 2010 SCRABBLE® Corporate Challenge conference title holder. The TGF SCRABBLE Legals came in first place in the annual crossword game tournament among the legal group.
